iBook CD-RW problem

Hi, I have a snow 500Mhz dual USB iBook with a CD-RW drive in it. Recently I have been having problems burning music cds from it. It burns the first 5-7 tracks okay, and after that the tracks then start doing this weird fade in and out. It is like if you took the volume on a stereo and turned it up and down at a constant pace.
Any suggestions as to what this may be? I am assuming it is a hardware problem, perhaps.
I am running OS X 10.1.5 and the latest iTunes.
 
I recently had trouble with burning music. It turned out to be a corrupt track. Eliminate the track that starts the problem and you should see improvement. Also what program are you using to burn? Using Toast Titanium will allow you to simulate a burn so you can tell what track is giving the problem.
 
Well, I use iTunes to mix my music. Yes, they are all songs from my CD collection ;-)
It has happened on the last 4 CDs I have made.
Zammy, I will give it a try with a data CD. Do you have any recommendations as to what to burn? Pic files or the like? I have enough pics, I can try with that...
