iBook keeps EJECTING CD !!!!! ????

Hi,

My iBook keeps ejecting it's CD drawer... even if there is no CD in it !!

It doesn't happen if it's asleep.. but once I wake it up, the door ejects..

note: the Eject graphic does not appear on the screen.. so I don't think the keyboard's Eject key is stuck..

Please help !!! :))))

What OS are you using? And what have you installed lately? Do you remember when this started and what you did previously to this?
 
Have you ever used a paper clip to press the pin-hole eject located in the corner of the drive? Perhaps the button deep inside is jammed, although it's a hardware mechanism and would eject even when the iBook is asleep. Just a thought.
 
the OS is 10.2.6..

it was installed for a while before this started happening..

nothing was poked into the force eject hole... i tried to put a paper clip in there.. wasn't able to fix it by playing with it that way...

is there a way i can zap the pram or something ????

You might try that.

restart your mac, while holding the following keys down (command+option+p+r).

You just have to have them held down before the restart chime ends.
keep them held down
wait for the chime noise to happen again.
then release the keys
 
Call Apple's tech support line and ask them for help. They might have an answer.
