iBook problem

Inverted brick

My Dual USB G3 iBook was left in the cold (Waiting at the trainstation with it in my bag) and later when I turned it on it got halfway theough the the boot sequence, locked up and looked a bit like this.

I reboot it and sometimes it'll boot into the OS 10.4.[latest update] and work for a short while (Like, 3 minutes) then lock up again and I'll have to reboot. (ctrl+cmd+power button)

Other times it'll just boot normally but nothing will be displayed on the screen. It goes through the normal boot procedure (I can hear it) but no display. No backlight.

One thing, when it locks up, if I squeeze the place where the HD is (bottom left of the main body) the flickering (The messed up rows flicker and change) stops.

Any suggestions/help greatly appreciated.

Ouch...based on what you've said, it sounds like it's time to look for a new laptop as it looks like your logic board has decided to crap out. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...mine went last month, so I know how bad it sucks.

They're not worth even trying to fix, as the cost is in the $400 to $600 range for just the parts and would require another $200 or so of installation fees (not a DIY thing either). For slightly more than that ($100 to $200) you can get a new or refurbed iBook from Apple with a warranty.
