iBook Ram

Depressed as hell
I have an 600 mhz G3 Ibook with 128MB ram. I was looking to probably put in another 512MB into it to top it out.

Does the iBook use regular 100 mhz SD-RAM that I can pick up at any store or does it have some strange shape that would prevent a regular chip from going in. I know Apple wants us to use their 'approved' RAM for stability purposes, but I don't like waiting for a shipment, plus I think everything Apple is overpriced.

Can I just stop by a store and get myself a regular SDRAM 100 mhz chip?

The iBook usese 100mhz SO-Dimm memory modules - standard for most laptops these days, as well as the iMac. So-Dimm is a smaller format than standard Dimm and usually costs a bit more.

The most you can put in the iBook is 512mb and there is only one extra slot.

I'd suggest speaking to a trustworthy memory seller or your Apple guy.
