This evening my ibook suddenly had a strange episode. First it crashed, when i rebooted i got the grey apple screen with flickering on the right side of the screen, not likeing what i saw i rebooted it again, this time i had no screen, not even the apple on the lid had lighted up but from the sound of the hard disk, it appeared that it had continued booting. Now after leaving it off for an hour, it has returned to normal.

Should i send it back? I bought it about 2/3 months ago so the warrenty should still be good (Correct me if im wrong but they have a 1 year warrenty regardless). Also has anyone had any expierence with sending apple products back in the uk? Will data on my hard disk be lost? And how quick would it be back to me as im a student and coursework deadlines are creeping towards me.
Thanks

Bugger, just noticed i posted this in the wrong forum, my apologies, could someone move it.

yes, they have a one year applecare warranty and i would recommend buying the extended applecare warranty for iBooks which i believe is $249. you cant fix anything that might possibly go wrong with an iBook for less than $249 parts and labor.

i would send it back. tell them exactly what happened. its certainly not normal. of course, if they cant reproduce it they'll just send it back to you as is. you can pay them $49 to backup your HD in case they decided to replace your iBook.

AppleCare in the US has a pretty good turn around, about 3-5 days. i dont know about the UK though.

I problems with my PowerBook, and DHL picked it up two days after I called Apple. I'll let you know when I get it back :)
Earlier my iPod stopped working, and I had a new one in six days.
