click here to try it out. especially worth taking a look at if you haven't done so in a while.
also before you knock the following - toolbar icons, rendering, speed, and crashes- try opening up the prefs and see just how customizable it really is. it is much better when fine tuned than straight 'out-of-the-box'. also note alternate icon sets available from a link on the download page.
also the vast number of languages supported. made in germany - so no USA big business here.
so, question for you - which icon set do you use? i was using one of the funky alternates because it seemed to run faster. but lately i've really liked crystal with the color changing buttons. and it seems to run just as fast. i've also noticed it runs much better from the apps folder than on the disk image on the desktop. i wonder if some people just load it, run it and toss it. because it is noticably slower if you don't transfer it.
oh, and lonny, when's the next hit mp3 coming out?
voice - i just wanted to say that was one of the most honest observations about what might keep people away from icab. i felt that same way when i first opened it up. i still don't know what half of them are - but i play with them. click them on and off, and see what happens. i think it's fun. i mean you can't mess it up. you can always reset to default. Which is the problem i have with trying to explain the prefs and how i have them tweaked. i've been using it for so long, i can't remember what the default settings were. and every new update i go in and play more. i'll probably do that tomorrow now that i'm confident this update is a good thing.
I actually use the default set of icons. I used a different set back in the "classic" days, but I don't remeber which.
I will try to run it from the app folder, even though it's already fast enough for me. Admittedly, not as fast as Chimera, but stil...
Speaking of which, the antialiasing in Chimera (courtesy of 10.1.5) is much worse than it was before... and it's giving me headaches.
As for my new hit...
I'm working on it. It feels terrible to go back to 8.6 to run Cubase reliably, and I'm waiting for CubaseSX to come out after Jaguar.
But it will be out soon! Would you like a signed copy?
This is a very good, stable, fast browser, all right! The Cookie Manager is the best I've ever seen.
Ed, the Crystal theme is gorgeous! I'm using it right now.
Now if it just had better javascript support, tabbed browsing and access to Services...
