I am having trouble video-chatting with iChat. I've asked for help here before and i was told to but a larger RAM so i bought a 2gig RAM. Immediately following the purchase video chatting worked very well; however, recently it has been giving me trouble. Whenever i try to video chat with somebody (mainly my brother who has the same computer, same RAM, and better bandwidth) the program tells me either that i don't have sufficient bandwidth or that my brother didn't respond to the invitation when i know for a fact that he did respond. Sometimes iChat tells me that my computer doesn't support video conferencing even though the camera works very well. The only thing that has changed since the last time that video chat worked is the room that i am in at college; the bandwidth should be exactly the same as when video chatting did work. The RAM is 2BG 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and my brother has the same kind. We both have Mac OS X 10.5.5.

Seems like a routing/firewall issue. The network router has to let iChat's traffic through both ways.

That [not responding to invitations error message] is usually a firewall/blocked port issue as fryke said.

Here is a full list of ports of Apple products http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629?viewlocale=en_US

When you get either error message, try Skype. The video quality is close enough for what you would get with iChat, but it uses port 443 that usually is open. At least you can see if the bandwidth would be as iChat complained.
