ID3 tag informaton loss in iTunes

Hi,

like some people here already also have mentioned, I'm experiencing a weird problem; it's with iTunes and ID3 tags.

OK, here's the story: I got some MP3 from a friend and I want to correct/edit the ID3 information. iTunes nicely changes the information in RAM (showing the new song information), but on a refresh from HD (e.g. when playing this song), all changes are gone and the old information is back. Guess iTunes didn't store it to the HD file for some reason.

No, the file is not locked, yes, I got r/w permissions. Have tried to solve the problem according to iTunes help (alas, the songnames aren't scrambled), no luck.

I noticed other people asked about the same thing but the issue wasn't resolved. Any news on this?

Thanks a lot in advance guys,

Shimaron

You got some mp3s from a friend? Hopefully, legallly. Otherwise, this post could be locked by mods.

Assuming the mp3s were from Internet means, the Russian site or a p2p network, the ID3 tags are likely hosed.
Assuming that they are indeed legal and just ripped from a long time ago, you can get several handy (and free) apps from versiontracker or macupdate that allow you to edit the tags and update them in a very comprehensive manner.
