IDE Drive Recovery Help Needed

I have a second INTERNAL drive on my G4 PowerMac. It is not the boot drive, but just a second IDE drive.

For some reason it quit showing up on the desktop 3 days ago. I've checked the connections and it seems to be running, but doesn't mount. I've tried Norton, Drive 10, TechTool, and Disk First Aid, but none of them see the drive at all.

Drivesavers.com says recovery starts at $500, but this drive does not contain any critical data--mostly iTunes music. So spending $$$ to recover the data is not an option.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might mount the drive to recover the data?

If nothing can see the drive, then you may be out of luck :(

Is it listed in System Profiler?

If the disc doesn't even show up in the System Profiler, there is no other way but spending some bucks. However, you might want to take a cheaper way than $500. Mostly the inferface card of the disc gets damaged. In that case you can buy a new disc that is identical to yours and simply replace the interface card. For that you don't need to open the hermetically closed drive, but just unscrew few screws and change the interface card. If this won't work, you can put the card back to your new disc and use it instead of your current disc but just without your data.
I think this taught you to make backups every now and then..
