I fear I've been rather stupid.

Hard disk verifies/repairs OK but can't boot, re-install or erase
I followed your advice and bought a 60 Gb Hitachi Travelstar to replace the dead drive on my Tibook 667. But, half way through the installation process, which up until then had been nerve wracking but straight forward, I discovered I'd bought a SATA drive when the old drive was ATA/IDE and as a result the connections on the Flex cable are not the same. I don't even know if the SATA drive will work in the Tibook. (Physically they are identical apart from the old ATA/IDE drive connects to the flex cable with pins - wheras the SATA drive has a different connection).
Can anyone advise me if there is such a thing as an IDE to STA flex cable for the powerbook.
I bought the drive here in France from LDLC.fr and I'm pretty sure they won't take it back. I can probably find a home for it in one of my sons' desktops. If there is no adapter that would fit, what drive should I get.
Feeling foolish.
Phil
