Idea!

Androo

Yeah, Androo.
Would it be possible for apple and microsoft to develop a program to convert windows files to mac? ok that was stupid, but here's a good idea:
Apple and Microsoft (mostly apple) create a startup thingy just like classic, but with MS windows!!!!!! Cuz honestly, quite a few games that i want are only for windows. Virtual PC is extremely slow. Apple should do this. Do Apple peoples come to this forum ever?
Maybe i'll submit this idea, cuz i submitted an idea 6 months ago for apple to make a web browser, and now we've got Safari. I suggested something about combining iTunes and a few others together, and we got iLife. I think i can predict the future!!! I'll go suggest it, and maybe i'll find out in a few months that Apple is producing this close to impossible thingy.

ever hear of virtual pc? what you want has been done for a long time. but realy, i just can't understand why anybody would want to run windows on a mac. these days you could probably get a used pc to run it on for less than vpc.

Not gonna happen. ;)

uh

still, it is what he's asking for. he just wants it to work better.

and like you said:
ain't gonna happen.

i installed VPC 6 on my mac to see whats up. its so friggen slow with windows xp i dunno how anyone uses it.

i agree with ed as well. why anyone would want to tarnish their mac with windows is beyond me.

Wouldn't a "lighter" (older) version of Windoze (e.g. 98 SE) run faster under VPC than XP?

In theory yes but in paractice no. The problem is that the display drivers are only optimized for certain versions of windows (like XP) so the redisplay kills you.

As a better example I have a Red Hat Linux image on my 667mhz TiBook and it actually gets respectable performance in text mode but fire up the GUI and it is a dog.

If I could just connect to X-Windows running on the Mac itself it may well be useful but alas I don't think that is possible for some stupid routing reasons...

i'm getting the new imac 1ghz, so it should be faster with the windows 98 se. problem: vpc can't read graphics cards, so i can't play games...
i'll just get soldier of fortune II or somethen...

Of course, you could just get the Mac version. Paying the extra $5 for a Mac version of an occasional game still beats forking out for VPC.

yea, and it's not like there aren't enough games fo rmac to eat up every hour of your day if you so choose. maybe you won't be able to have one or 2 certain special games, but most of the successful ones that are any good make it to mac anyway.

If it was possible to make Windows completely compatible with Mac, it would have already been done.

Coding, architecture, systems differ.
Not much, but they do.
