im new to laptops, and just got a macbook. i mainly use my macbook at home, so i just take the battery out and plug the laptop into the powercord. my question is what is the ideal way to prolong battery life if i use it like this? should i just keep the battery at a low charge when i'm not using it, use it every now and then, or use it on a daily basis?

It doesn't really matter what you do with Li-on batteries. They have a shelf life, so they die eventually, and if you heavily use them they may last not as long, but nothing to change your habits for. Just keep the battery in there, and it'll be fine. If you're not going to be using the battery for a few months, store it at 60-70%.

really? keeping the battery in the macbook is better than leaving it out? should i just keep running it until the battery drains, or keep the charger plugged in? thanks

It does not matter with the MacBook batteries whether you leave the battery in or out, they will stop charging once they are full. When you need to run it on battery power, do so. I wouldn't cycle it more than you have to, but if you want battery power, use it. If you're not going to use the battery for a few months, store it at 60-70%, otherwise, it's fine to leave it in.
