iDVD 2 Great program but really slow!

Has anyone notice how unresponsive iDVD 2 is on a new iMac G4 800, it takes forever to open up projects, add folders backrounds, etc. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to perform simple little tasks, which is really started to annoy me, this is the only program where I have issues with speed, everything else is great. Could it be the fact I only have 256mb of ram?

Update- I just learned something really interesting from Apple's site, they reccommend 384mb of Ram for it, well no wonder, 256 is the bare minimum. Guess I will invest in that 512mb stick now, even though ram prices suck!

Runs great on my box, but then again, it damn well better! Of course, it should run great on yours as well. I would like to think the RAM would help. I would recommend buying as much RAM as you can possibly stand to pay for. OS X will reward you for it. 256 is rapidly being considered bare minimum to run level, with 512 being a more realistic minimum for X.

Thank you for the advice mindbend, I see the price for 512mb SO-DIMM at like 189 at Ramjet you think I should buy now or wait till the prices drop, If I should wait how long do you think it will be?

I just got a new top of the line iMac with 768 MB of RAM and iDVD runs great. The motion menu preveiw is pretty jerky, but that's no big deal.

Capt-

I have no idea about price fluctuation, so I can't comment on that. If buying it now won't sting too much, I'd say just do it so you can move on with your life and enjoy the new setup.

Me likey new flat panel iMac. Want for home. Please send yours to me.

Yeah, it runs fine on my 800Mhz iMac with 768MB RAM. I picked up a 512MB SO-DIMM (laptop style) for $90 at MicroCenter the other day. What a deal!
