Ok, I 'upgraded' iDVD to version 5, and tried my first burn last night.
Captured a VHS movie into iMovie HD, created chapters and sent it to iDVD. I used a 4.0 theme (the theater one, with the markee), and checked on the map - all looked good. Preview looked good.
Told it to burn. It asked for media - tried entering a Memorex DVD-R and it couldn't detect the media. (Brand new media - just out of shrinkwrap). Strange, as this is the media I have used successfully in the past.
Switched to a different media brand, and it took it ok. Started the encoding process. Left it overnight, and it was finished in the morning.
Put it in the DVD player (commercial player), and it wouldn't load. Put it in the mac, and it launched DVD player, but no menus or anything - it just started playing the movie! It is as if I asked it to do a 'One step DVD', but of course I DIDN'T. Stepped through the chapters, and they were there (no titles of course, but it would chapter advance), until the last one, and the video crapped out, and DVD player froze with the spinning pizza wheel of death.
Dang - iDVD - almost a good idea.
What should I do to fix this?? Suggestions?? Should I de-install v5 and go back to 4?
