IE 5.2.1 out

No clue what the differences are, but 5.2.1 is out. The info is the same as for 5.2, so I guess that it's just bug/security fixes.

so what's new? did you think a few court cases would rid m$ of the concept of monopolizing?:p

Of course not. :) I do keep up with IE just to see where it's going, hoping, just hoping, they will give a proper context menu in the URL bar. Still no. :( Acts like a regular click, IIRC. Then again, OmniWeb, which I use regularly, has its faults too. I have to admit that I am hopeful for IE 6, as well as OmniWeb 5. 4.1 is still too lacking in certain areas.

i Don't use a Mac @ present, as most of you know, and use Namely Mozilla and IE6 on my PC. I am Just curious as to how MSIE5.2.1 compares to MSIE6 on PC?! Can i assume the Version number doesn't Truly give a clear comparison to the version on the opposing platform?!

neyo, i use both IE6 pc and IE 5.2.1 for Mac.
Personally i like IE6 better, i dont like the sometime small but annoying diferences on 5.2.
I think IE6 is a little faster, and i dont like the tabs (favs, his, search etc) on the left of IE5.2.
An example of a "little thing"...favorites, when you add it on the PC, it asks what you want it to be called, on the mac, it just adds it. Small and maybe stupid..but little things like that annoy me.

Neyo, I never use IE6, but do use 5.5sp2, and can safely say that IE 5.x for Mac sucks in every way possible compared to the Windows version. Sad but true.

yes. IE 6 is on par with IE 5.2.1 standards-wise.

Ah, I see. Well be it as it may, I will revise my statement. Neyo, I can safely say that IE 5.x for Mac sucks in every way possible compared to IE 6 for Windows. Sad but true. :)

Seriously, I have never been able to get past the severely lacking interface and functionality differences in IE for Mac. Though it does display more web sites than OmniWeb, I still use OmniWeb on a regular basis because of so much that IE lacks in its interface.

Even if IE was significantly better than OmniWeb or Mozilla, (which it isn't), I still couldn't stand to use it because of its truly lousy cookie "manager" and the #@$%^&* pop-up ads.

I like Internet Explorer for Mac.

I HATED the Windows version. I wanted to remove it from my system.

I guess you all know how fun that was to try. :)

Anyway, I have used I.E. as my primary browser from day one-even though I felt a little conflicted about it first. Here I was, trying to escape the dark side, and I was still using one of their products. I was also using my LEAST favorite app from them. The one that made my Windows experience painful.

Still, from day one, I noticed a huge difference in the way I.E. works on Mac.

Perhaps it just me. Perhaps it's not. I hardly ever get a webpage that doesn't load on I.E. for Mac. On Windows, that was a DAILY occurrence.

I have downloaded every browser for Mac.

I have yet to find a browser that worked as well as I.E. does.

I used to be pretty impressed with the latest beta builds of Omniweb. In the end, though, even with the release of Omniweb 4.1 final, I came back to I.E. again and again.

I am not saying everyone should use it. I am not saying it is the best browser on Mac. It still needs some work, done, too.

I am just trying to use my long experience with I.E. to show people...the Windows version is not better.

Don't believe the hype.
