Illegal use of MacOS logo?

Hmmm....could it be a Mac OS set-top box? I've seen some medical sonogram machines running the older version of the Mac OS (Classic). Although I couldn't see the OS I knew it was a Mac based device since it had the system sounds and when I checked the back of it the sonogram machine had ADB ports.

Of course, this is a new device....maybe Apple is silently using the Mac OS in embedded machines? Don't want to start up the rumor mill here... :p

It's also possible that they are using it illegally. I guess we'll see what Apple does down the road if they find out about this.

No. This is just a case where someone had the job to "find/make icons" for things and didn't have enough time or interest. And since "95% are Windows users, anyway", "no-one" using a Mac would ever see this. :) ... Well: I guess _if_ Apple knows about this, they accept it as a compliment, shrug and move on.

Fair enough. Although I think even Windows users would recognise the logo, even if they don't use it.

how the hell does the MacOS logo represent "channels" anyway?!

I didn't mean Windows users wouldn't recognise it, I meant the "artist" argued they wouldn't. ;) ... And I'm also not sure how they could use it for channels...

I really don't... And not only because I don't know their particular smell yet, but because it's not like the company which made the TV receiver is using the icon to promote the device...

Yeah, but isn't the basic jist of copyright law that if you don't protect it, it isn't yours for very long?

Although technically illegal, I too don't think Apple will be knocking down their doors any time soon.

I think what Apple should be concerned about it not the copyright infringment, but the fact that their company could be accociated with an inferior product (the unit works fine, but let's face it, Legend Digital is cheap and nasty).

While the first icon is indeed ripped off from Apple, the other icons are also ripped off from an icon set from xicons.com. I'm sure I have all of those icons filed away somewhere in my "icons" folder.
