hi everyone
i just got a old iMac 266 Mhz..one of the 5 color
versions..mine is purple...
well. it had 32 Mb ram in it, so i thot to upgrade and
i purchased 128 Mb ram.
I installed it in the top slot and when i turned on
the mac booting OS9 it showed that i had 256 Mb ram
chip in the top slot instead of 128 Mb.
I switched the slots and it showed the same.
I tried installing Mac OSX but it would freeze after
booting up during the first install screen.
When i removed the 128 Mb ram chip, things worked fine
and Mac os x installed fine.
So my question is, do i have a bum 128 Mb chip ? or is
there any other setting i am overlooking..
I checked that the 128Mb ram is meant for the top slot
of the iMac (since this iMac has diff physical memory
chip sizes for top/bottom slots).
If anyone can figure out what i just explained and can
point me to some info i would be extremely grateful !!
Thanks a lot !
