imac G3 screen goes dark after 30 min

Hi,

I have an Imac G3 500 MHz which worked fine for several years. Recently the screen suddendly went dark. It now happens every time after about 30-60 min of use. The screen flickers a few times and goes dark. When the screen goes dark the power switch LED blinks green. Pressing the reset button does not do anything. The only way I can restart is by disconnecting from power and waiting for ~15 min before turning on again. It looks like my screen responds to overheating and needs to cool down before it can work. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help.

Have you checked the Energy Saver settings? The machine might be going into Sleep mode. For machines like this, I usually set the Energy Saver settings to "Never". Also, be sure to disable individual settings for power, that way it's all disabled. Usually the screensaver is the only thing I set.

Of course, if you want the Energy Saver settings enabled, set it to your liking. :D
