I was taking apart my iMac G3 to replace the CD-RW drive with a DVD-ROM drive. As I closed the case on the iMac to screw it back on, the spring loaded button was smashed, but the spring left intact, but detatched from the iMac. Now i cannot turn on my iMac, because the spring button is gone. Can someone please tell me how to turn on my iMac without using the power button, or maybe how to build the spring button mechanism from common household objects? Anything to get my Mac working again. My iMac was manufactured in Summer of 2000, so it cannot be turned on with a keyboard with a power button.
