iMac G4 sleep problems

I've had this computer for abaout a year and bought it used on Ebay. Nothing's changed with my setup since I got it, no additional peripherals added, but last week I encountered a problem with the machine waking from sleep. This occours both when the system puts itsef to sleep automatically. and when I do so manually. When it's asleep and the white light in the bottom RH corner is slowly flashing, pressing any key or moving the mouse doesn't wake it up any more. In fact the white light goes out. I've tried the keyboard shortcut to restart (apple-control-eject) but this does nothing. In the end I have to unplug the electricity and press the power on key. This is the third day it's been happening and for now I've set the preferences for the screen to never sleep, but I'd like to get it sorted. Any ideas?

You are unplugging it to turn it off? Are you sure that holding down the power button for 10 or 15 seconds will not do it?

Anyways, I have the same problem with my Powermac G4, but I wrote it off as a processor crash, as it only does it when iDVD 6 is rendering big movies. Are you doing anything processor-intensive when it crashes? Or it always happens, no matter what? Have you done any system updates recently?
