iMac G5 Kernel Panics, HD issues

Hi everyone.

The skinny is as follows:

iMac G5 Rev. B will kernel panic, and then HD will click on reboot. I yank the HD, it mounts fine on my MacBook Pro using a USB SATA adapter.

I can see all my files, and when I run a "Repair Disk" from Disk utility, it sees invalid file and directory count, and the drive DOES NOT CLICK.

This leads me to believe it is the drive controller, and not the drive itself, except for the following:

2 years ago I had the same problem. I installed software updates, and the computer froze on reboot. I force shut-it-down and then rebooted, got the click and folder icon. I yanked the HD, and it wouldn't mount, and clicked when it was outside the computer.

Coincidence? it was the same type of drive.

P.S. I've reset the PMU and PRAM, rebuilt the directory on the drive using DiskWarrior and TechTool Pro.

Any bulging or blown caps on the iMac? Does disk utility still show the errors after running DiskWarrior? What did DiskWarrior come up with? Just because you can slave the drive to another machine but it kernel panics when trying to boot from it, doesn't mean the drive is fine.
