iMac G5 no video but booting fine

Hello, hope this is the right section

I was wondering if someone could clarify what LED 3 actually means, as what everyone's saying isn't very clear to me.

'LED 3 indicates that the computer and the LCD display are communicating. This LED will be ON when the computer is turned on and video signal is being generated.'

The first part tells me that the LCD display is broken, the 2nd part tells me that the video card is not working properly... so which is it?

I was hoping to get it running by using the mini-VGA into another screen, everything else is running fine, it's starting up and clearly loading into the operating system.

Theres no bulging capacitors, so thats fine...

When booting up the little light in the corner is on whilst it dongs and then for a few seconds more.

Anyway, it would be nice to know if it's worth bothering getting a mini-VGA to try. I was hoping it would just be the linkage between the video card and the display and the mirror image outputted from the mini-VGA slot would work...

either way, cheers!
