I know the imac g5s have had a ton of screen issues but I haven't actually read one similar to mine yet, so I apologize if this is already dealt with in another thread.
About a week ago I noticed these blue tinted horizontal line patterns running across my screen. It used to happen about once every 3 start ups, but now is constant. The pattern appears all over the screen but only over certain colors, particularly certain bright colors (like absolute white) and certain other odd places (such as the drop shadows created by open windows.) I also noticed two strange half-circular aberrations near the top right corner, as if somthing was actually wrong with the back lamp.
I'm not sure if this is a permanent issue or an easily fixable one. I also wanted to know if I buy another monitor (which would probably be cheaper than replacing a video card or something) if it would show the same problem or not. At first I assumed it would be fine, but the systems digital color meter actually does register the difference (although the lines do not appear in printed tests). Thanks in advance for any help!
Here is the info I thought you might want regarding the computer type:
Machine Name: iMac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac8,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.0)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1 GB
