iMac TFT never slepps with 10.1.4

My iMac TFT 700MHz never lets the display sleep. I've tried resetting the PM settings manually (button inside case by airport) to no effect.

Strangely when I reset that, my clock, and my PM settings remain the same as before I reset them. I've got a network time server setup and am connected to a LAN, which would explain the time, but why are my sliders in the same place for the PM sleep times eh?!

Anyone else experiencing the same problem? I don't wanna unecessarily burn power leaving ym screen on, and even in "basic black" it's too bright at night hehe.

The PM sleep-time settings you set with the sliders are stored in preferences on your hard-disk, so that explains why they didn't revert to defaults when you used the reset switch.

ElDiablo offers this warning:
Be careful, people. Resetting the PRAM and resetting the motherboard (which is actually resetting the PMU) are two COMPLETELY different things. While one (zap PRAM) is relatively harmless, the other (zap PMU) can render your entire computer useless.

It's best not to go pressing that little button unless you know exactly how to do it. On the new iMacs, pressing it more than once can permanently kill the machine. On the G4s, you may or may not have to press it more than once.

That said, you can reset the PRAM by holding the Command + Option + P + R keys all at once while booting (immediately after pressing the power button)

I hope that works...

I called Apple and asked explicitly what the little button in the TFT iMac between the AirPort and RAM slots does, and he said "exactly that, resets the PM setting and the clock, that's the only effect you'll notice" when I asked if it would mess up my comp, firmware, etc he said "absolutely not".

But thanks for the warning anyway haha.
