One very fast simple question:

Does the iMac 266 MHz with the 6 GB harddrive have:
1. a Networkcard pre-installed or slot for it if not pre-installed?

I need this info because I want to get Internet up and running on the iMac with an ethernet cable (requires network card).

No, what I meant was to run ADSL (broadband) I need a "Netzwerkkarte" installed, or I cant connect my iMac to the router, which is connected to the modem, which is connected in the wall plug. "Netzwerkkarte" I guessed was Networkcard in English, but I'm not sure. So my question actually is:
The card you need to have broadband (ADSL) internet on a computer is installed on most computers now, but does such an old computer have one?
Hope this is not too confusing...
 
It's exactly what it is, and the answer was correct the first time. Built-in Ethernet is what you're looking for. Netzwerkkarte is "network card" or rather network adapter. The fact that the iMac has it integrated on the motherboard doesn't matter. All you need is a working Ethernet port. All's fine with that iMac. :)
