I recently received an old iMac DV 400 with the following problems:
- Display does not work well, quite dim (external monitor works fine)
- Will not power on if HD is connected to power connector on mainboard, but will if HD is powered by external power supply
(currently being supplied by old external HD case)
- iMac does not sleep, but instead powers off
I believe that this problems can be resolved by doing an ATX conversion. I have seen dozen's of references for kits that make this process easy for people like me (who are afraid of soldering irons), but can't actually find anyone that makes or sells them anymore.
Does anyone have any ideas?
