The image preview in the column view of the Finder is one of the handiest things if you happen to be, oh, I don't know, doing web design against your will, or something like that. But not all of my images preview. Well, all of *my* images that I've created do. But many files that have been supplied to me by the client, or scanned by me at my office (both Windows environments), don't. I can't seem to find the rhyme or reason to it. Some of the files get associated with QuickTime for Classic, some with Preview.app, and I know these are files without custom embedded previews or oddball Type/Creator codes. I guess it's the inconsistent metadata situation in OS X rearing it's ugly head?
I'm not even gonna ask if others have come across this one. I'm assuming we all have. The question is, has anybody yet determined precisely under which circumstances which images show up, and the least effort required to take control of it?
