I am using a G4 15" PowerBook at school to do some video editing in our broadcast technology class. We are making a 1:30 news report in iMovie 3, Panther. There is some music in the background (a 3:00 song we have adjusted the end time of) and a few voice overs. However when we try to do more voiceover recording, the recording stops with the alert "The disk responded slowly. If you have lots of audio, try muting your audio tracks to see if that helps playback time." (or something similar).
This has happened to me on my oldish iMac G3, but I assumed that my computer was just a little slow/not working/not the "best" to handle iMovie 3. But this is a factory condition laptop with no other apps open, 1.25 gHz G4 processor, 512 MB RAM, 60GB hard drive. I gave up asking my teacher for help as he routinely asks me for help in iMovie
. . . anyone out there have an idea of what is wrong? Is it something wrong in iMovie? Can I do anything to fix it?
