importing bookmarks from old dvd player

I have lots of bookmarks in my old DVD Player program, version 4.6.5, on my old Mac. The settings files are in format *.plist. In the new version of the program, the player uses settings files in format *.enc. I tried copying the file from the old player and renaming it with the .enc extension but it did not work. Are all my old bookmarks unusable in the new player, or is there a workaround here? this is important, b/c I teach film and I rely on these bookmarks for my classes. Thanks.
