I have jumped feetfirst into this world of *NIX and have only been burned a bit. One issue I have had is:
I have installed both GTK++ and ghostscript (I think) from their OSX binaries/img. The installs went fine, but when I tried to install the GIMP I got an error saying that install could not find gtk-config. Ok I thinks, maybe I need to configure GTK. Look, don't seem to be able to find gtk-config. Beat my head against the wall for a few days trying to figure this out. Fsck it I think.
Might as well try fink. dselect DLs gtk++ and installs it and lo and behold there is now gtk-config. GIMP installs fine.
Is there a step I am missing when I install a *NIX app/lib from an OSX .pkg?
Thanks in advance.
