installation trouble with new SSD

Hey guys,

im having trouble installing 10.6 into this new SSD.

Its been put into my macbook pro as a second hard drive using a 2nd HD caddy that takes the place of my optical drive.

Since i wouldn't have a optical drive i went ahead and formatted an external USB HD with installable 10.6 before hand.

I've partitioned the new drive in disk utility as mac OSX journaled and GUID with one partition.

From the USB HD with snow leopard, i begin the installation onto the 60 GB SSD. The installation goes for about 5 min, then says it will continue installing after a restart. The computer restarts, but remains stuck in the grey screen with apple. I left it for 45 min but it remained stuck.

I've tried it several times with the same result. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Please help.

What is the source of the OS that you are trying to install? If it comes from the System Restore DVD for a different model Mac, then it cannot be installed on your computer.

Im just realizing that i did buy a snow leopard disk when it first came out and i also have one that came with my mid 2010 macbook pro. I might be using the earlier disk that did not come with my computer.

Unfortunately, i cannot locate the OS disk for my Macbook pro. Are there any places i can download the snow leopard version i need?
