Installing OS 9 over OS X

When I upgraded my sister's iMac to Jaguar, I never installed classic...I dont have 9 on any of our systems. Today, she decided that she wanted to look @ a CDROM yearbook that requires classic...so I put in the OS 9 CD, and booted from it. It says that it cant install OS 9 over the existing system folder, and that I have to do a clean install....I'm just not sure if this is a CLEAN CLEAN install, as in wiping out my HD, or what....I dont want to lose all her data to install OS 9. Anything I can do? Is there a way that I can partition the HD without having to erase everything first and starting from scratch, and then installing 9 on that partition? Thanks:)

I think I had the same problem back when I was installing classic, and that in the end I backed up everything and decided to select "Clean install" anyway, and it left my OSX system intact. This is odd to say the least, and I wouldn't do it without backing up everything first, as it may have been a quirk specific to that one installer version of Mac OS.

Oh, and if you plan on using Classic mode from within OSX, you'll need to update Classic to OS 9.2.2

You'll be pleased to know hat a clean installation of OS9 only refers to a completely new installation of the OS9 operating system. No OSX files are affected. Bear in mind that the first time you start classic OSX will add some stuff to OS9 so it talks to OSX correctly.
And do get the latest update for OS9.2.2 as well.
