International Shipping ... US --> UK ...Anyone know much about it?

Ok, a mate of mine won auctions on US Only items thru eBay ...
Original Cube Manuals and CD's, and a GeForce 3 ADC. Now i wanna bring 'em home! lol

Shipping seems crazy money, like $100 for Fedex, UPS etc. But the confusing bit is the VAT. I read somewhere, about it, does anyone know whether they add on VAT? ... is ANYTHING liable for VAT? ... its confusing, if anyone knows a thing! .. please let me know!

You might check out US Mail, probably cheaper shippping wise and you can insure it. VAT will be assessed on your end, another reason to go with US Mail, sometimes UPS, FedEx etc add too much or add fees etc. As far as how much VAT is assessed depends upon the product. I wouldn't think that you would have to pay much. When it is shipped from the US you have to declare on the customs form how much it is worth. Obviously, you don't want to tell the truth!! BUT, it is very important to be realistic.

Check out the VAT on your end and you can check out shipping rates at www.usps.com. For a 5 pound pkg from the continental US to the UK it would cost USD 32.00 for 4-10 day service. Less for slower, more for overnight.
