Internet Freeze Crashes Computer

When on the internet and attempting to go to another site (any site other than the one I happen to be looking at) my computer has frozen up. This has happened at least 6 times in the past week. I usually can't do a force quit of the internet, can't do a hard reboot, and even the reset button on the back of the computer hasn't worked more than 1 time that I remember. I finally unplugged the computer, waited 30 seconds and then plugged it back in again.

It's an old computer, Power6500 with OS 9.1. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to get job applications out this weekend.

Thank you.

Is it sites with images or just text?

Double check that you have Virtual Memory turned on. It is in the Memory Control Panel where you can also check to see how much room is left on your hard drive. It will show as how much space is available for Virtual Memory.

If there isn't much, then you need to clean up your hard drive of those downloads and files that you don't ever use or never installed.
