I'm constructing a project right now, but i have no idea what it will end up being once it's compiled. In otherwords: I'm building an application that has no foundation right now, i want you (as the public) to help me build up the foundation by asking you this:

What type of documents/information do you want to access directly from your internet without the hastle of searching/browsing the internet? Kind of like the application Watson, if you will.

All comments/idea's/opinions are welcome!

I hope you are not bringing back the WinDoze "Active Desktop". Please don't!

About the only thing I'd consider letting happen to my desktop is changing the pattern... but I'd only let trusted folks push pictures to it.

I guess this would act like one of those digital picture frames, but multiple friends/family/trusted souls could be enabled to do this. I guess they'd ened both a GUI interface on thier machine, or a Web page from which to switch the picture.

All of the pictures could be scheduled to show up on a specific date time, or else just be put in the queue to show up when its turn comes.

One thing: Automaticly updating to one online picture so that when it changes on on online server, my desktop changes...I'm getting too lazy to go to joyoftech.com every second day...

Uh... No.

That would mean there'd have to be an *illegally* embeded browser in the OS, and opening up all kinds of good areas for viruses to infect.

If Apple did that, then I'd switch back to OS 9 and you can bet my next system would be running Linux.

Uh, Yes. I do like it and Yes, it is a help to me at work.

That's nice if you don't like it. You could hopefully turn it off as you can in Windows.

And embedding a browser is only illegal in the context of Microsoft and its "monopoly" not the simple act of embedding a browser.

This thread has actually gone way off topic (from where I was expecting it to go) so it's pointless to keep it open to opinions.
