Internet settings change

I have a powermac g4 mdd dual 1.42 processsor with os x 4.10.11. My internet settings have been changing on their own every time I quit safari and go back, even 1 minute latter I can't get on. In preferences, the setting goes back to internet connect with modem but I click on LAN and move to next screen in network continue. On rare occassions it will then say congratulations you are now connected and I am!

Most of time I click continue the computer will ask for static address but most times will not accept it-says that the address isn't consistent with with submask net and router #-it is the same address that works when I am conncected to internet. I have 3 hard drives each with the same os x. it doesn't matter which one I boot from.

I reinitialized one hard drive and reinstalled the os x. The first time I booted up it connected instantly to internet for software update but during restart and second software update a screen popped up and said that update couldn't be completed because internet timed out. And then it has been close to impossible to reconnect. 1 out of 10 tries, maybe, I get on. Any suggestions?

It sounds as though your PRAM battery has gone to its reward. This is to be expected of old computers like yours. Replace the battery and all should be well.
