Internet Sharing- Tiger to Leopard

Hi,
Previously, I could share my internet connection from my Tiger machine to my Leopard machine. Now it seems not to work. Specifically, I'm connected to the internet via AT&T Wimaxx, a wireless modem that connects to my iMac (Tiger) via ethernet cable. In other words, there's a tower down the street sending microwave signals to a little box on my desk that's in turn connected to my computer via ethernet cable. Previously, I just activated internet sharing (System Preferences > Sharing > Internet) of my ethernet connection via AirPort.
My Leopard machine (macbook) shows a strong AirPort connection (icon in the menu bar) but when I attempt to connect to web pages, regardless which browser (I've tried Safari, Firefox, Opera) I'm constantly error messaged that I can't connect to remote server.
Furthermore, I'd like to make this connection as secure as possible.
Any advice you folks might have would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my wit's end.
Many thanks.
pete

PS Perhaps this is a complicating factor, but when I go through the "Assist me..." under System Preferences > Network, there are choices for DSL, cable, etc., but nothing for this Wimaxx thing. I've tried just checking it off as a DSL router, but still no success.
