I've read some of the posts regarding this issue, but none have been able to help. My frustration has me wanting to kick my machine and seriously jurt apple. Seeing as how neither are viable options I've turned here for help.
I have two G4 DP 500Mhz machines. They are exactly the same except for Ram and Hard drive space. I have the host machine connecting to the net without a problem, my network config looks like this:
Using PPP i have my Dns setup from my isp, my dial up is all set from them as well.
Using Ethernet:
IP address 10.0.1.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Router (nothing)
DNS (same as PPP)
I was formerly using brickhouse to connect the two and had zero problems (hence the reaction to apple). Since i've loaded Jaguar onto my machines (silly me to think this would be seamless), i can't get my net connection to share. I reloaded brickhouse and it worked for a split second. Since then I haven't had anything other than "Resolving host" from my other machine. The client machine looks like this:
Using Ethernet:
IP address 10.0.1.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Router 10.0.1.1
DNS (same as host machine)
I can get the machines to talk to each other as far as file sharing goes, but when it comes to the net, no luck. I stopped using Brickhouse and have tried in vain to get this option that Apple included called "internet sharing" to work. It seems fairy straight forward, but i still can't connect.
The machines are linked via a crossover cable, and I can't see the need to go buy any hardware to solve this problem, so could someone out please offer a frustrated, soon to be exhausted and out of work graphic artist some help.
I just want to be able to get online with the other system and get my #@*&! email.
Thanks in advance for any help, it will go a long way.
