how long does a iphone battery usually last?... ive had my iphone for over 2 years.....and when i do have to change it... where do i get it and do i lose whats on my iphone when i do change it?....its a 16GB....thanks for any help

I'll only recommend Apple for a new battery. That said, there are tons of them on eBay if you care to DIY. Not an easy task.

No, you will not loose anything on the iPhone, however, prudence dictates that you do a backup before taking/sending it off.

Edit: This just in from Other World Computing (macsales.com) I highly recommend them also.

"The iPhone and iPods are another interesting example. Although Apple moved to internal batteries on the Unibody Macbook/MacBook Pros over the past year - these are pretty easy to swap none the less. At the same time, with each new iPod generation and the iPhones, it's gotten far more difficult to replace something so simple as the battery and is now really a professional service job. We offer the service for under $60 and Apple charges well over $80 for this battery replacement.... How many people do you think that go to Apple for a battery instead upgrade to new iPhone for the $99 or $199 instead?"

you will notice that the battery doesn't hold the charge anymore as it used to.

it's hard to do the repiar by yourself since the iphone has to be taken fully apart.

you can use a third party company. no data will be lost, nothing will happen to your iphone if it's done professionally.

i had my battery replaced with www.iphoneservicesdepot.com

iphone doesn't even look like it has been opened, very neat job, and it costed me like $50. check them out

The iphone counts how long it was in use, that is the time the screen was on or the music was playing) and shows you how much time has passed since the last time you charged the phone to its fullest.

I can't even tell what's up with my iphone's battery anymore. The indicator is so whacked it's impossible to know how much charge is left. Disclaimer: this is a 2G iPhone (4GB, no less) so, yeah, it's pretty old as these units go. But just as an example, I just got the "below 20%" warning...plugged it into its dock and the indicator instantly bounced back to about 50%. Sometimes after I've just finished charging it to full (at least, according to the indicator) I'll start playing a game and find that barely half an hour later it's already down to 50% again. I have no idea what to believe.

Frustrating :- <

I think that is a sign of a dying battery. I am having the same symptoms on a 5 year old Sony camera. A new battery is £58!

Maybe a new camera is cheaper now...
