iPhone Macau China

A friend of mine just purchased an iPHone from an Apple dealer in Macau, China and the phone, she says, is being sold unlocked. Apparently you aren't allowed to sell locked phones in China. Has anyone else heard about this? Would it work here in the UK if I had her purchase one for me, or would it be "bricked"?

Thanks.

You sure it _is_ an iPhone and not just some lousy knock-off that, from the outside, _looks_ like an iPhone? If it's unlocked, of course it _wouldn't_ be bricked in England. It's not like the country or its networks would recognise "hey, unlocked iPhone!" and then lock it. ;)
