Iphoto & Appleworks not working

Installed leopard. Appleworks and Iphoto not working. I have a backup & my computer indicates that Iphoto is there - but cannot pull it up.
Appleworks seems to be completely gone. I have lost the discs - brilliant.
Any suggestions please?
 
And, for the future, when installing/upgrading an OS, use the archive and install option to preserve your apps, settings, etc.
