I am currently using a MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.8 .
Last night I downloaded Ilife09 from mega upload . all the applications when replaced worked accept my Iphoto. Upon replacing my old iphoto08 the iphoto 09 in the applications menu ( via copy and replace) the iphoto refused to open and only gives me an error message of " iphoto application quit unexpectedly". Any further attempts to relaunch always fail. I have no way to open the iphoto or access all the photos located in my iphoto history. I came to this website to troubleshoot and performed a repaired permissions in the utilities folder, and deleted the com.apple.iPhoto.plist files, but this has not worked. What else can I do? I fear all my photos are now lost, as now my only way to access them are via the iphoto application/library.
my iphoto library folder mysteriously disappeared some time ago, so my only access to my iphoto loaded photos is via the iphoto application.

Try reinstalling iPhoto '08 from your original install disc. Beyond that, we can't help you with an illegal/unlicensed copy of iLife.

Your problem could be caused by one of two things.
A corrupt file within the installer. If you still have the download - try doing the install again.

You downloaded an illegal copy. The only way to get it corrected is to first store the iPhoto Library file else where on your computer, then trash all the iPhoto files. Now using your iLife 08 installer, re-install. Or purchase iLife 09 and get the physical installer disk.
