iPhoto imports all red and green

Starting suddenly (not sure if it was related to a system update) my imports to iPhoto from a Kodak Easy share are all red and green. Same happens when I open them with jView or Preview, but not ColorWhirl, QuickTime or ToyView, or when exported from Preview as a jp2 and then looked at again with Preview. Here are some more details:

they look fine on import in iPhoto, but as soon as I quit iPhoto and restart all the thumbnails in Organize are red-green only. emailed jpgs are fine on other machines. I have looked in virtually every Preference and when I open them in PhotoShop (which I barely know how to use) they are also all red-green and no color profile seems to get rid of it.

My previously imported pics in iPhoto look fine. In the info boxes the Camera software entry is blank for the OK photos, but for the problem imports it says QuickTime 6.4 or 6.5.

Anybody have any ideas? Help appreciated.

Is it the camera? Borrow a camera from a friend and try importing images with iPhoto.

Another thing is that you could set nothing to launch when you plug in a camera, and since the camera will mount as a separate volume, you can simply drag your images onto your hard drive. Then you can add them to your iPhoto library.
