I recently got an Iomega 120 GB Firewire Portable HD. After I plugged it in to the Firewire port, I tried to import some photos off my camera. However, iPhoto will no longer find the camera. In addition, whenever I reboot my computer, it no longer finds the external HD. I have a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 Mac Mini with 512 MB DDR SDRAM, running Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. Any suggestions?

I have lost iPhoto auto open since upgrading to 10.5.2, but it still works on my older iBook laptop which I have kept on 10.4.11.
On the other hand, I have connected an Iomega drive to the MacMini. But it can be seen when I connect it.
Does you iPhoto open, as mine does, when you remove the memory card from the camera and put it into a USB card reader? Mine does, which is a workaround, if inconvenient.
Camera is a small Sony DSC-T1 about 4 years old.
By the way, it's not iPhoto that recognises the camera, that is done by the application Image Capture. Check your Image Capture Preferences.
