iPhoto (v5) crashes when assembling a book.

Just wondering if someone has a solution for this issue .. or just an opinion that would help

When assembling a book in iPhoto, it crashes at the same place each time with this crash report:

Looks like it has a problem trying to grab some memory. Virtual mem at this point for iphoto is usually just over 3Gb (real, around 440Mb from a total RAM of 768Mb) .. is this a system limit?

This is a large book (100's of 2-5Mb pics). Is there a way to:
1) increase mem settings to allow this book to assemble?
or 2) do we have to reduce the size of all the pics so that this works fine?

BTW other books (smaller ones) assemble fine.
