iPhoto won't open

When it begins to launch, it "circles" a few times, then closes and a "Submit Report" window opens.

I may have downloaded an update recently, but I'm not sure how long before this started happening.
 
Hold down OPTION + COMMAND while opening iPhoto and choose the "Rebuild iPhoto Library database" function. The process will likely take quite a bit of time if you have a slower machine and/or thousands of photos.
 
I too am having this problem. Yesterday afternoon, I tried the option + command to rebuild the iPhoto Library database. It's still spinning there, after about 18 hours. The database probably has about 35,000 images; when you say it will take quite a bit of time, does this seem reasonable? Thanks.
 
That seems unreasonable. Perhaps you have file system damage that needs to be repaired with something like DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.
