iPod behaving badly

my ipod which has worked great for over a year has suddenly out of nowhere stopped working, the apple load screen just sits there doing nothing, and i can here the drive spinning them stopping then starting again in a cycle :( :(

anybody have this problem
 
Hmm, that doesn't sound good. Does resetting it do anything, or the same thing? (If you've never had to reset it before, you hold down the Menu and Play buttons down together for a few seconds.)
 
yeah that didnt do anything either, i just loaded the ipod software on again and started from scratch. now i have to track down all the music i had before :]
 
no i am careful of that, problems started when i had it plugged in and OS X froze for like the 4th time ever
 
Does anyone have the occasional problem where the iPod gets plugged into the mac and syncs and then gets ejected but keeps the big do not eject me screen? Is there a good way to fix it besides pulling the plug and forcing the pod to restart? I had to do that yesterday and winced pretty hard.
 
Yeah, quit & relaunch iTunes. That'll make it mount, sync, then unmount again, and it'll usually fix that.

Yep, happens to me every once in a while, too.
