I recently received a brand new iPod Classic 80Gb. After the initial charge I plugged the device into one of my 700mHz eMac's USB ports and it connected and mounted as a drive on the desktop. iTunes also popped up but the iPod didn't appear in the sources panel. I waited a while and nothing happened. So I went online and searched for possible fixes to the problem. I tried Apple's "5 R's" as well as the few other useful and relevant fixes and nothing worked.
To check whether it's my computer or the iPod that's acting up, I attached my iPod to my roommate's computer - where it was instantly recognized - and my roommate's iPod to my computer where the same problem happened.
I have OS X.4.10 and iTunes 7.6.1 (the latest release) so I'm guessing my computer's just too old for such a new iPod, but it'd be great if you could help me out. It's such a tease to have a fully-functional new iPod and no way of using it...
Thanks,
Kevin
