iPod for Jogging

Hi all,

I am thinking of getting the 10G iPod.
As it has a hard disk instead of a solid state memory as most mp3 players have, i was wondering if excessively shaking while jogging causes iPod to "jump" tracks or stop playing?

Does anyone know if the iPod is a device suitable for jogging?

Greetings,
Philipp

I've wondered about this... i use it and have no problems... but would you run 3 miles everyday with your notebook computer in your backpack or would you worry about it?

Well, just get a case or a skin for the iPod .. and keep it e.g. in a pocket so it won't know your sweat etc. But ... I have seen some really scary looking (= too many drops and scratches) iPods that still work. (Can't find a picture now).

I walk over a mile everyday to and from school (mile each way) and the only problems that I've ever had is one day when it was super slippery I fell and cracked up the case on my old dell laptop.

Haven't had any problems with anything besides that. I even leave my TiBook in sleep and it gets tossed around in my Targus backpack all the time and it's in perfect shape.

if you listen to a song that's more than 30 minutes (> 30MB) then it will begin to skip. it's not good if you like to listen to uncut mixes.
just a heads up.

how is that? on my iPod, it loads the first 32 MB of the song into memory and spins the HD down so it won't skip. i know the old firwmare had problems, but the new one is supposed to fix them. Are you up to date boi?

Hm? I have tried with a 90 MB radio show on my 20 G iPod and I didn't notice anything weird

Hey, this is kind of off topic, but I was wondering how the iPod handles playlists...
If I have the Top 25 Most Played playlist and I transfer songs from iTunes to the iPod and then play some songs will the play count of those songs change?
Also, if I have a playlist set on shuffle and repeat (the little buttons in the bottom left next to add playlist) and I transfer songs to an iPod will that playlist still shuffle and repeat when I play it from the iPod?
Im real close to gettin an iPod when and if the new ones come out, and was just wondering about the little things.
Cant wait to go runnin with that thing, here I come harriet!

I was supposed to get mine for Xmas.. then waited for MWSF ... and 40 G models or price drops and there weren't so I got mine after that. :) .. Maybe as everyone's been drooling for the new pods for months, Apple'll enjoy keeping us waiting till MWNY.. ;) ---- I don't know for the play count. I have never had a look on that. You can shuffle and repeat from iPod if you choose it from the iPod control. When it's connected to your mac, you control it from mac .. I use a lot playlists (from iTunes), but you can use also browse / play by artist, album, title, shuffle, repeat [from the pod] etc..
