ipod not connecting to computer

I have had my ipod for several months now, and it has been working fine. The other day I tried to connect it to my computer and nothing at all happened I tried using a different cord that belongs to an ipod nano and still nothing happens, so i'm not sure what else to do. Should I buy another cord?

I dont think the problem is from your cord. My guess would be it's either from the iPod itself or iTunes that does not recognize your iPod. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes??
